ONE PIECE ZINE
In my Design 3 class, we were asked to create a zine based on any topic we wanted. It had to be at least 8 pages and be at least 5.5x8.5 inches in size and it required a grid. For my topic, I chose my favorite anime: One Piece, specifically showcasing the many themes present in the series such as dreams, inherited will, freedom, slavery, racism, liberation, and more. To do this, I used significant quotes said by characters and illustrations would accompany them to visually represent it. To add, I decided to make the pages in my zine 11x8.5 inches so when fully opened it will span 22 inches long since I figured having lots of horizontal space would give lots of breathing room.
To make the zine unique, I decided to go with a hand-made approach using construction paper, watercolor, markers, and pens to piece together the illustrations. These were then scanned into Photoshop and touched up with coloring and fixing the placement of the pieces. To add, all text was hand-written and also scanned and touched up.
